Manage your debt
We understand that getting into debt can be a frightening and challenging time and that many people end up in this situation through no fault of their own.
Our recommendations on how you should take the first few steps in resolving your situations are:
- Firstly, don't ignore the problem - it won't go away but we can help you through it.
- Only listen and take advice from organisations that are trained and experienced in helping people with difficult financial situations. We have provided a list at the bottom of this page. Many online chat forums may offer opinion that is incorrect or not suited to your circumstances.
- It is in everyones best interest to deal with your debts straightaway - delaying may increase the amount of the debt you owe or lead to legal action. In the long term this may affect your ability to get credit for things such as mortgages, finance, mobile phone and TV subscriptions.
At LRC, we want to work with you to resolve your financial situation. We offer a variety of ways to make a payment to suit you such as credit and debit card payments, Direct Debit, BACS, cheque and by barcode at over 300,000 PayPoint outlets.
We also can look at creating a monthly repayment plan specific for you: looking at your personal circumstances and taking information such as your income, outgoings and earnings into account, we will arrange a plan that we believe is a reasonable amount and period of time to repay.
